Economic Planning in Practice: Indian Experience and NITI Aayog

The idea of economic planning has again found takers on the global stage, especially in wake UN Agenda 30 and pursuit Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). India also revamped its machinery 2015 established NITI (National Institute Transforming India) Aayog. In these developments, it will be relevant to have a relook at history ideas experience related Indian planning. article first discusses before 1950s then goes discuss major models for plans. After relooking India, paper presents critical reflections role Drawing Adolph Lowe’s method instrumental inference, is argued that successful SDG needs decentralized orientation establish controls achieve desired goals.
